Cordon Blue | British-Run Sea View Restaurant Full Of Character And Charm

I’ve been to Corralejo in Fuerteventura five times now and we always try and mix up what we do, however there’s one tradition that will always stay the same no matter what we do. That tradition is one of our favourites – visiting Cordon Blue for lunch as soon as we step foot in the town.

The Vibe

Cordon Blue is located in a great place in Corralejo – central to the main town, and right on the seafront. The views are fantastic, with boats sailing past and people undertaking watersports in front of a gorgeous view of Isla de Lobos. Inside the restaurant is nice and shaded, with tables and lots of bar stools, however we always opt to sit outside and soak up that view during our first couple of hours on the island.

The perfect view for lunch!

It was the outside seating that first attracted us to Cordon Blue, with their beautiful sofas and tables that are just so comfy to sit on. It’s also a prime spot for sun, so if you go in the middle of the day it’s a good idea to nab a table with an umbrella (or take your sunnies and hat just in case).

The Food

Due to our tradition, the main time that we’ve been to eat at Cordon Blue is for lunch, though we’ve also stopped by a few times for a drink during the day and early evening. The bar offers a whole host of different drinks, and we tend to go for a refreshing lager or a cappuccino depending on the time of day. The combination of the Canarian heat and a cool beer is perfect!

Cordon Blue has a great menu that offers a combination of British and Spanish dishes. As we tend to eat Spanish elsewhere, our Cordon Blue visits are one of the only times that we order British-style cuisine, with Paul usually going for a bowl of their perfectly cooked chips, which can be eaten with a variety of different condiments. Alioli is really popular in Fuerteventura so is readily available in most restaurants, and we’ve found it’s perfect when combined with chips.

We don’t eat many chips abroad, but we always order them from Cordon Blue as they’re so fluffy and crispy

Flights typically make me super hungry, so I always go for a baguette as they’re so filling! My favourite is the chicken and alioli baguette, but I also love the prawn mayo and the egg mayo. Each baguette is served with a generous helping of crisps and salad, and I’ve certainly never come away from lunch feeling like I need more food! One lunch meal I’ll be trying next is the Fuerteventura platter, which contains slices of local meats and cheeses with Spanish omelette.

My favourite lunch option

As well as loads of great lunch options, Cordon Blue offer a wonderful variety of evening meals, from Spanish tapas to mussels served in a cheese and white wine sauce. Their fish is always fresh and full of flavour, plus they are also vegetarian-friendly. We’ve always found their prices to be highly reasonable, so they are also a brilliant option if you’re on a bit of a budget.

The Extras

Although there aren’t any extras that I’m aware of such as entertainment, one of the other things I really love about Cordon Blue is the excellent customer service. The place is ran by Tam and Clive, and Tam is always so friendly, with a wealth of knowledge about the island and the places that you should visit.

We were slightly daunted by the multitude of Spanish restaurants when we first visited as we were yet to learn Spanish at that point, so making Cordon Blue our first stop helped ease us into the holiday and showed us just how friendly and welcoming everyone is. Whilst I’m a fan of absorbing as much culture as possible, sometimes it’s nice to find someone that you can relate to through birthplace, and makes visiting a foreign country for the first time much less nerve-wracking.

Final Thoughts

There’s a reason that Cordon Blue is now a tradition for us, and that’s because we’ve never found a single fault with the place. It will always be our first stop after our flight – with great food, stellar customer service, and the most beautiful view to raise a pint to, what more do you need?

  1. What a view! I can’t imagine there are many better ways to kick off a holiday than to sit gazing out at that! The food looks really delicious too, those chips have made me very hungry! It’s so nice to have little special places where you feel comfortable when you’re travelling 🙂
